PHINMA Education has acquired a college in Dasmariñas, Cavite, in a transaction worth ₱432 million, effectively raising its stake in the school to 94.62%.
The acquisition increases PHINMA Education’s student population to 167,000, solidifying its status as the largest private higher education network in Southeast Asia by enrollment.
PHINMA Education, controlled by the PHINMA conglomerate led by bilyonaryo Ramon del Rosario Jr.’s family and backed by KKR, was established in 2004 with the acquisition of PHINMA Araullo University in Nueva Ecija.
St. Jude College Dasmariñas, which has 3,000 students, marks PHINMA Education’s first school in the rapidly growing Cavite province and the 10th academic institution in its Philippine network. It is also the 12th school in its Southeast Asia portfolio.
This acquisition is PHINMA Education’s first since raising ₱4.5 billion earlier this year from funds managed by KKR and Kaizenvest.
“St. Jude Dasmariñas continues our thrust to make education as accessible as possible to underserved youth,” said Happy Tan, PHINMA Education’s Country Chief for the Philippines. “Our newest school expands PHINMA Education’s presence in Southern Luzon and nearby regions.”
