Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, in close coordination with the local government of Rosario, Cavite, personally extended much-needed assistance to over a thousand indigent residents during an outreach activity held on Thursday, July 31 at SM City Rosario. The initiative prioritized vulnerable sectors, including solo parents, elementary, senior high school, and college students, dialysis patients, and individuals with ongoing medical needs.
“Alam niyo, mga taga-Rosario, ginawa niyo akong number one sa buong Pilipinas, number three ako dito sa Rosario, at number two sa buong probinsya ng Cavite. Maraming salamat po,” Go warmly told the crowd as an adopted son of CALABARZON region.
He took a moment to recognize the strength and perseverance of the beneficiaries: “Alam ko, hindi madali magpalaki ng anak na mag-isa, pero habang buhay tayo, maging proud tayo na napalaki natin ang ating anak. Palakpakan natin ang mga solo parents, senior high at elementary students, ang mga sumasailalim sa monthly therapy at dialysis, at siyempre ang ating mga estudyante. Lahat kayo ay inspirasyon.”
Go, alongside his Malasakit Team, distributed essential items such as food packs, snacks, fans, shirts, pens, as well as basketballs and volleyballs to 1,033 recipients. Selected beneficiaries also received a bicycle, a watch, and shoes to support their daily needs and promote wellness through active living.
In his message, Go thanked his fellow public servants for their consistent partnership and dedication to grassroots service, including Mayor Jose Voltaire Ricafrente, Vice Mayor Joanne Michelle Gonzales, and Councilors Vivian Andico, Raul Hernandez, Christopher Go, Michael Giongco, and Arelle Convento.
In partnership with Go, the local government of Rosario also distributed financial assistance to beneficiaries, further addressing their immediate needs.
Furthermore, Go highlighted the recent legislative achievements designed to enhance support for senior citizens. Among these is Republic Act No. 11982, which he co-authored and co-sponsored. The law extends the cash gift program to include Filipinos aged 80, 85, 90, and 95, each receiving P10,000, complementing the P100,000 incentive already available to centenarians.
“These milestones reflect our gratitude and commitment to our elders,” Go remarked.
Additionally, he mentioned RA 11916, which he co-authored to amend the Senior Citizens Act and increase the social pension for indigent senior citizens.
Recognizing the social and financial burdens borne by solo mothers, Go is also one of the authors and co-sponsors of RA 11861, which amends the Expanded Solo Parents’ Welfare Act. The law provides additional benefits such as a 10 percent discount on baby essentials and expanded parental leave provisions.
He reaffirmed his commitment by citing key legislative measures that he has co-authored and co-sponsored to expand access to education and protect the rights of both students and teachers. Among these is RA 12077, or the Student Loan Payment Moratorium During Disasters and Emergencies Act, which provides temporary financial relief to student borrowers during times of calamity. He also co-authored RA 11510, which institutionalizes the Alternative Learning System (ALS) to support out-of-school youth and marginalized learners in attaining basic education.
To further protect students’ rights, Go co-sponsored RA 11984, or the No Permit, No Exam Prohibition Act, which ensures students cannot be barred from taking exams due to unpaid school fees. In addition, he pushed for RA 12006, or the Free College Entrance Examinations Act, which removes entrance exam fees for qualified senior high school students applying to private higher education institutions. Supporting teachers as well, he co-authored RA 11997, or the Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, which increases the teaching supply allowance of public school educators.
Go also reiterated the urgent need to sustain and deepen reforms in the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to ensure that all Filipinos, especially the poor and marginalized, benefit from improved and accessible healthcare services.
Among the recent developments he supported is the expanded kidney transplant benefit package. Under the new scheme, financial coverage for kidney transplants has been increased from PhP600,000 to PhP2.1 million.
“Maraming salamat po at tandaan po natin na isang beses lang po tayo dadaan sa mundong ito. Kung ano man po ang kabutihan na maaari nating gawin sa ating kapwa, gawin na po natin ngayon. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat mga kababayan ko sa Rosario. Mahal na mahal ko kayo rito.,” concluded Go.
On the same day, Go personally visited and aided 172 fire victims in Tondo, Manila.
