The Deputy Chief of Police of Noveleta, Cavite is now under custody for the alleged rape of a detainee, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday.
“Nasampahan ng kaso noong September 23 ng Republic Act 8353 or Anti-Rape Law yung ating police commissioned officer,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said in a press briefing.

“Ito pong si Deputy Chief of Police, yung suspek po natin, ay kasalukuyang nasa restrictive custody sa Cavite Police Provincial Office,” he added.
(This Deputy Chief of Police, our suspect, is currently in restrictive custody at the Cavite Police Provincial Office.)
Due to command responsibility, the Noveleta Municipal Police Station Chief of Police was also replaced, according to Tuaño.
The 49-year-old suspect allegedly took the 34-year-old victim out of a detention cell. The victim was brought to the police official’s office, where the supposed rape was committed overnight from September 3 to 4.
Tuaño said the victim, with the help of visitors, was able to report the alleged rape through the 911 hotline on September 18. Authorities responded on September 19.
From Noveleta Municipal Police Station, authorities are planning to transfer the victim to another detention facility after the incident. —RF, GMA Integrated News
