The Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) expects to complete its final phase before the end of 2025. According to MPCALA Holdings, the Governer’s Drive Interchange is about 40% completed in its construction in General Trias, Cavite.
The interchange spans 8.64km, which should speed up the traffic within Cavite—between Silang and General Trias. Once completed, the fully realized CALAX will stretch to almost 45km between the two provinces.

The Governer’s Drive Interchange will be the eighth junction on CALAX, joining the other roads in Cavite and Laguna. Construction around the Kawit Interchange and the Open Canal Interchange is still ongoing with 31% and 21.9% completion rates, respectively.
Once fully operational, CALAX is expected to accommodate up to 95,000 vehicles daily. The completion of these Cavite interchanges will also make room for a link between CALAX and the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX)—providing more routes between Metro Manila, Cavite, and Laguna.
MPCALA Holdings officer-in-charge Elnora Rumawak confirmed the completion of CALAX this year: “We are committed to completing the entire stretch of CALAX by 2025. Its full opening will not only ease traffic and improve connectivity but also support economic growth by enhancing access to key areas in Cavite and Laguna.”
Construction for CALAX started in 2017, with the interchanges in Laguna being completed at the tail end of 2023. The Governer’s Drive Interchange was originally slated to open within the first quarter of 2025.
