EIGHT qualified bidders, including D.M. Consunji, EEI Corp. and Chinese construction firms, have submitted financial bids for the P7.3 billion land component of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) project.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said the bids for Contract Package 1 came from China Harbor Engineering Co. (P4.87 billion), Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd. (P5.87 billion) and China Wu Yi Co., Ltd. (P5.87 billion).
Other submissions include Shou Road and Bridge Group Co. Ltd. (P6.002 billion); the joint venture of Human Road & Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd. and China Civil Engineering Construction Corp. (P6.52 billion); POSCO E&C-Sta. Clara Joint Venture (P7.04 billion); EEI-PMI Joint Venture (P7.19 billion); and D.M. Consunji (P7.82 billion).
All financial proposals will be subjected to further evaluation, the DPWH said.
The $3.9-billion BCIB project is divided into seven contract packages. Package 1 involves the construction of the Bataan Land approach, covering about 6.89 kilometers.
The BCIB project aims to provide a permanent road link between the provinces of Bataan and Cavite. Once completed, travel time between the provinces of Bataan and Cavite is expected to be reduced from 5 1⁄2 hours to about 45 minutes.
