More than P500,000 worth of cash, jewelry, and personal belongings were stolen from a senior citizen in Silang, Cavite, allegedly by the brother of her former helper.
According to Nico Waje’s exclusive report on “Saksi” on Monday, 69-year-old “Nora” (not her real name) sustained bruises on her hands, arms, and side of her body after grappling with the suspect who broke into her store early Saturday morning.
Nora said she heard something fall to the ground, but ignored it thinking it was just a cat.
“Nandito na sa tabi ko. Sabi wag kang mag ingay sasaksakin ko kayo (He was beside me telling not to make a noise because he will stab me),” the victim said.
“Sabi, pwede maka kiss eh may taklob ako. Sabi ko iho ang tanda tanda ko na, maawa ka sa akin, may nanay ka rin (He then asked if he could kiss me. I told him to have pity on me as I’m old and that he also has a mother),” she added.
According to the police, the suspect took P120,000 worth of cash and jewelry and other belongings with total worth of P500,000.
The suspect jumped over the gate to enter the victim’s yard and destroyed a fiber cement board to unlock the door.
His identity was discovered after his PhilHealth ID was left in front of the victim’s store.
CCTV footage also showed where the suspect went home, which is also the house of the victim’s former helper.
“Given na ho na alam niya kung saan nagtatago ng pera, ng properties, jewelry, and other personal belongings ni victim,” Silang Police chief Police Lieutenant Solonel Louie Gonzaga.

Authorities arrested the former helper after the suspect was nowhere to be found in their home.
“We were able to establish na talagang matagal nang pinagplanuhan nitong magkapatid na nakawan si lola (we were able to establish that the siblings have long planned to steal from the victim),” Gonzaga said.
The former helper denied that he is an accomplice and said he is unaware of his brother’s plan.
“Nung dumating siya ng bahay, halos gumagapang na siya. Parang may tinataguan. Naka jacket siya na itim at nakapantalon. Naka-hood na kung di pula, itim,” the former helper said.

“Tol sumuko ka na lang. Huwag mo akong idawit. Pamilya mo ko eh. Maawa ka naman sa akin. Hindi ko naman ito ginusto. Sumuko ka na lang para makalabas ako dito,” the former helper appealed to the suspect.
