The P7.25-billion Contract Package 1 of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge Project has attracted bids from eight local and foreign construction firms.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Tuesday opened the bids for the bridge project’s first contract package with the entire proceedings live streamed on social media “in compliance with the President’s directive to ensure transparency, public access, and accountability in the bidding process of DPWH projects.”
The Public Works Department earlier announced it would live stream bidding and procurement activities within its central, regional, and district engineering offices to promote transparency.
Meanwhile, the eight bidders for the Contract Package 1 of the Bataan-Cavite bridge project are the following:
The DPWH said major structure components of the package include the trumpet interchange that connects the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge with Roman Highway, Roman Interchange Bridge, Alas-Asin Main Bridge, Alas-Asin Overpass Bridge, Mt. View Overpass Bridge, Mt. View Waterway Bridge, and the Bataan Land Viaduct.
On the other hand, the entire 32.15-km project is poised to be the longest water-spanning bridge in the Philippines with a four-lane inter-island bridge connecting Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, and Barangay Timalan Concepcion in Naic, Cavite.
The bridge will have two navigational bridges, the 400-meter North Channel Bridge and the 900-meter South Channel Bridge, that are expected to traverse Corregidor Island. About 80% of the structure will be over the sea. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
