Human remains believed to be those of a Chinese mother and child abducted in 2023 were exhumed in a garage in General Trias, Cavite.
According to Jun Veneracion’s Monday report on “24 Oras,” the remains were found after the primary suspect in the kidnapping, who was arrested last week, pointed out the location.
The Chinese Embassy has been informed of the matter.
“This is a sad development because this would somehow confirm ang ating fear na maaring patay na itong mag ina pong ito [our fear that the mother and child are dead]. However, we still have to wait for the official result [of the] DNA examination,” Philippine National Police spokesperson Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said.
In October 2023, an entire family was taken from an exclusive subdivision in Muntinlupa City.
Their Filipino employees were freed, but after a few days, the bodies of the father and three others were found in Quezon and Rizal.
“Isa po sa tinitignan ay may kinalaman sa business po and hopefully doon po sa pagkaka-aresto sa isa sa primary suspect would give us more information with doon sa possible motive behind the kidnapping,” Fajardo said.
(One of the motives we’re looking at is in relation to their business. Hopefully, the arrest of the primary suspect will give us more information on the possible motive behind the kidnapping.)
