NOVELETA, Cavite – The local government unit has intensified the implementation of proper waste segregation for the 16 villages in this town.
Mayor Dino Chua met with the 16 barangay captains to solve the worsening waste problem, together with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) head Leah Balen.
Chua urged residents to learn waste segregation in every household so that the garbage that will be taken out on garbage truck days will be reduced.
“Bottles, steel, paper and plastic bottles can be recycled. It will be a big reduction in the volume of garbage that our eco-aides will have to collect.’ The mayor said.
“I hope we will adhere to the set day and time for garbage collection in our area or barangay so that trash will not scatter on the roadside,” he added.
An Information, Education and Communication (IEC) tarpaulin (information drive) has also been distributed in the 16 villages regarding the “No Segregation, No Collection” policy.
Chua added that the “No Plastic” policy is still being strictly enforced in the town and recyclable ecobags and baskets are being used instead.
