The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday announced that it has imposed a 90-day suspension on the license of an SUV driver that was caught on video hitting and pushing a bus driver in Silang, Cavite.
According to the DOTr, the altercation stemmed from the collision of the Toyota Hilux with the bus.
“Hindi tayo hihinto sa pag suspinde ng lisensya ng mga driver na sangkot sa road rage,” Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said in a statement.
(We will not stop suspending the licenses of drivers involved in road rage incidents.)
“Lalo na sa insidenteng ito, kitang-kita sa video kung paano nya sinaktan ‘yung matandang driver. Hindi natin palalampasin ang ganyang mga maling asal,” he added.
(Especially in this incident, it was clearly seen in the video how he assaulted the elderly driver. We will not let such misconduct go unpunished.)
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office has summoned the driver to explain why he should not be charged with reckless driving and have his license revoked.
The DOTr said its decision to temporarily suspend the driver’s license stemmed from the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to hold abusive drivers accountable.—Joahna Lei Casilao/AOL, GMA Integrated News
