Authorities are investigating three luxury vehicles that were seized in separate operations in Pasay City and Cavite due to the alleged lack of documents and whether these have possible links to the anomalous flood control projects.
According to Chino Gaston’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” the Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) impounded a GMC Denali sport utility vehicle (SUV), Porsche Boxster and Chevy Camaro.
The red Camaro was seized in Cavite on September 6 after the driver failed to present a driver’s license and the vehicle’s registration papers.
Meanwhile, the GMC SUV and Porsche were seized in Pasay City on September 4 for allegedly being sold at unusually low prices and without a valid authority from the registered owner.
The PNP-HPG is waiting for the owner of the Camaro to redeem the vehicle and present the necessary documents.
Meanwhile, the owner of the two remaining vehicles is processing the Special Power of Attorney.
PNP-HPG clarified that there is still no evidence showing that the vehicles were stolen or related to the investigation of those involved in the flood control projects.
It added it is looking at the luxury vehicles of some government officials involved in the anomalous flood control projects.
The cops also confirmed that they are conducting an investigation, as the vehicles may have been disposed by its owners due to the ongoing flood control projects issue.
The PNP-HPG and the Bureau of Customs are set to have a meeting to strengthen their coordination in giving clearances to imported vehicles. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
