Home – Sierra Leone:Ecobank’s “Kapu Gentri” Campaign Ends with Big Wins and Bigger Impact
By Ishmael Sallieu Koroma
Freetown, Sierra Leone – August 5, 2025: Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited brought its widely acclaimed “Kapu Gentri” savings campaign to a thrilling close on Friday with a grand prize draw ceremony at its Charlotte Street headquarters in Freetown.
The event marked the celebratory climax of a months-long initiative designed to promote financial empowerment, reward customer loyalty, and deepen the culture of saving across Sierra Leone.
Welcoming a packed audience of customers, partners, regulators, and the media, Ecobank Managing Director, Sebastian Ashong-Katai, set the tone for the afternoon with a warm address.
“It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Management and Staff of Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited, to welcome you all to this exciting and much-anticipated event, the Grand Draw of the Kapu Gentri Promotion,” he said.
Ashong-Katai underscored the campaign’s mission as more than marketing:
“Kapu Gentri – meaning ‘Fill Your Wallet’ – was not just a catchy slogan, but a call to action for individuals to take charge of their financial well-being through consistent saving and participation.”
He emphasized the bank’s commitment to financial inclusion, customer engagement, and innovation.
“Ecobank is proud to be at the forefront of transforming banking experiences. Through digital innovations, community engagements, and initiatives like Kapu Gentri, we continue to ensure banking is not only accessible but truly rewarding,” he added.
The Managing Director also extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, staff, regulators, and media stakeholders who contributed to the campaign’s success.
“Whether you win today or not, remember – with Ecobank, you are always a winner,” he assured.
A Campaign That Sparked Nationwide Enthusiasm
Sheikh Omaru Jalloh, Ecobank’s Head of Brand, Communications, and Marketing, echoed this sentiment, describing Kapu Gentri as a movement.
“It was a powerful call to action for individuals across Sierra Leone to actively take charge of their financial well-being,” heCampaign
Jalloh revealed that thousands of customers from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in the campaign, which he said reflected the growing trust and loyalty between Ecobank and its customers.
“This overwhelming participation signifies a deepening bond between Ecobank and the diverse communities we serve,” he noted.
He also stressed the bank’s ongoing effort to blend innovation with inclusion.
“Through continuous digital innovations, proactive community engagements, and customer-focused initiatives like Kapu Gentri, we’re working to make banking more accessible and truly rewarding,” Jalloh added.
Community Spirit and Financial Wisdom
Senior Ecobank official Sahr Musuyamasu joined the celebration, describing the campaign finale as more than a prize-giving event.
“It’s truly a moment of great joy to witness this thrilling conclusion to the Kapu Gentri campaign,” he said, applauding both the winners and the spirit of collective progress.
Musuyamasu emphasized the role of consistent saving in financial growth, drawing inspiration from investor Warren Buffett.
“Every mighty tree providing shade today began as a single seed,” he said, urging customers to view even the smallest savings as seeds for future prosperity.
Millions Awarded in Grand Finale
The most electrifying moment of the afternoon came with the highly anticipated grand draw. Cheers erupted as lucky customers won top prizes of Le 25,000,000, Le 20,000,000, and Le 15,000,000.
