There has never been any other time in Philippine history when two brothers have been appointed to the Cabinet of one president; Jesus Crispin Remulla in the DOJ and Juanito Victor Remulla in the DILG. Not only that, Boying has been appointed as ombudsman and Johnvic is being positioned as BBM's candidate for 2028. Martin Romualdez is already damaged goods. BBM has no other viable bet to make sure Sara doesn’t win.
If Ilocos has the Marcoses in the north and the Singsons in the south, if Davao has the Dutertes, and all the provinces have their own ruling dynasties controlling both the economy and politics, then Cavite has the Remullas. And the kingpin is Jesus Crispin or Boying Remulla, erstwhile DOJ secretary, now the ombudsman, with Johnvic as the niño bonito who has the charm and clean records. Only Cavite can give Davao a run for its massive voting potential. Only the Remullas can deliver a united Cavite vote.
Cavite is one of the most important provinces in the whole country. It claimed the pride of being the site where the first ever independent republic in the whole Asia was proclaimed on June 12, 1898. It is also the birthplace of the first Philippine president, General Emilio Aguinaldo. It’s one of the eight most important provinces represented in the Philippine flag. It’s also the land of Francis Tolentino, Bong Revilla, and Ping Lacson. These three will easily follow the call of Boying to rally behind Johnvic.
For the longest time in recent history, Cavite has been controlled by one of the most durable political dynasties in the country, the Remullas. The lesser-powerful Revilla trapos as well as the Tolentinos of Tagaytay cannot hold a candle before the Remullas, who currently control the whole province in alliance with other clans.
The late Juanito R. Remulla, Sr, the father of Boying and Jonvic was a UP Law alumnus and Bar topnotcher, fourth in the 1956 Bar exams. For a very long time, Johnny was the unquestioned kingpin of Cavite, even when he was in the height of his movie and political careers. He was elected delegate to the 1973 Constitutional Convention, then as board member, vice governor and then governor. Johnny was elected Cavite governor from 1980 up to 1995. He has seven children including Boying and Jonvic.
The eldest, Boying, born in 1961, a lawyer from UP Law, is a member of the Upsilon Sigma Phi like his father. After a brief law practice, he was elected Cavite Provincial Board member in 1992. He was elected for three terms as representative of the Cavite 7th District, then as governor, like his father, from 2016 to 2019. He ran and won again as representative serving from 2019 to 2022. He was appointed as secretary of Justice and assumed that office on July 1, 2022. He was named as Ombudsman and started as such on October 10, 2025.
Juanito Victor Remulla Jr or Johnvic is the 42nd DILG secretary. He started as PB member, vice governor, and then governor. Johnvic was appointed by PBBM when Benhur Abalos ran for senator and lost. The Remullas have given the PBBM candidacy a tremendous boost in the last presidential elections. In Cavite, the results of the presidential polls showed BBM getting 1,121,668 votes or 60.9% compared to Robredo, 497,898 or 27.03%, Lacson (a native of Cavite), 91,677 or 4.98%, Isko Moreno, 80,484 or 4.87%, and Pacquiao, 40,054 or 2.17%.
It was also in Cavite where the Magdalos of Aguinaldo defeated the Magdiwangs of Bonifacio in the infamous Tejeros Convention. Also there where Katipunan founder and supremo, Andres Bonifacio, was falsely charged, prosecuted by a kangaroo court, convicted, and executed by Magdalos along with his two brothers, Ciriaco and Procopio. Bonifacio's widow, Gregoria de Jesus was molested.
The home of the Remullas is also the home of Nardong Putik whose character was played by Ramon Revilla Sr., father of Bong Revilla, the senator who was defeated in 2025, charged before the Sandiganbayan and acquitted but ordered to return millions to the Philippine government. This is also the home of Rep. Kiko Barzaga.
The Remullas, along with the Tolentinos in Tagaytay, the Revillas in Bacoor, the Ferrers of General Trias, and the Barzagas of Dasmariñas are the dynasties of Cavite, heirs to the Aguinaldos, Triases, Alvarezes, and Noriels of the Magdalo. The next president of the country may make a repeat of the destiny of General Emilio Aguinaldo.
