MANILA, Philippines — Diversified conglomerate GT Capital Holdings Inc. has agreed to host the Cavite campus of the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) to scale up the educational caliber of Southern Tagalog.
GT Capital yesterday announced that it has signed a memorandum of agreement with ADMU for the establishment of a new campus in Riverpark, which is located in General Trias, Cavite.
Riverpark is the largest township development under GT Capital unit Federal Land Inc. and joint venture company Federal Land NRE Global Inc. (FNG).
The new Ateneo campus will rise on a 15-hectare land in Riverpark, becoming the latest addition to a series of commercial developments within the township. Riverpark will house a Uniqlo Logistics Facility, to be opened by the end of the year, and the future SM City General Trias.
For ADMU, the new campus in Riverpark is expected to be finished by 2030.
ADMU president Roberto Yap sees the school catering to learners from the southern enclave of Mega Manila.
“The new Ateneo campus allows us to extend our mission and to provide more families in Cavite and its nearby provinces with access to quality education rooted in Jesuit tradition,” Yap said.
GT Capital vice chairman Alfred Ty said the rise of an Ateneo campus in Riverpark improves the viability of the township as a growth district in Cavite.
“Our investment in this campus reflects our long-term commitment to creating sustainable value for generations of Filipinos anchored on the values of excellence and service,” Ty said.
Riverpark is promoted as a city outside the city, covering around 600 hectares of land in General Trias. Its location places it at the heart of Cavite, making it less than an hour away from some of the business districts in Metro Manila.
By 2026, Riverpark expects to gain direct access to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, operated by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. The tollway is linked to the South Luzon Expressway through Mamplasan Rotunda and the Manila-Cavite Expressway by way of Kawit.
FNG has reported a full sellout of the first tranche of its commercial lots in Riverpark as of May.
These lots are set to be developed into office, retail and mixed-use facilities, improving livability in the township.
