A man who was on his way to his retirement party at the office died after he was shot by another motorist in what appeared to be a case of road rage in Dasmariñas, Cavite, on Wednesday.
According to Jhomer Apresto’s report in “24 Oras” on Friday, CCTV footage showed that a white pick-up vehicle and a red sedan both stopped side-by-side along Abad Santos Avenue in Brgy. Salitran 3.
The driver of the red sedan pulled down his windows, and both vehicles slowly moved together. But the red car suddenly bolted away, the report added.
In another footage, the victim was seen bloodied while inside the white pick-up. The victim was an employee of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco).
Responders tried to rush the victim to the hospital, but he did not make it.
Meanwhile, a colleague of the victim said that he does not know anyone with whom he has a beef at work. He added that the victim was supposedly on his way to Ortigas when the incident happened.
The colleague also shared that the victim had already bid farewell to the security guards in their workplace as he was supposed to retire by the end of the month.
“Hindi siya mahilig makipag-away. Mabait na tao talaga,” he said.
(He doesn’t like to fight with anyone. He is a really kind person.)
The police said that the incident could have stemmed from an altercation while on the road.
“Ito po ay isang insidente ng road rage…Ayun po ay base dun sa mga saki po, dun sa mga bystander po dun sa lugar ng pinangyarihan,” said Cavite Provincial Police Office chief public information officer Police Captain Michelle Bastawang.
(This is an incident of road rage… That is based on the witnesses, on the bystanders in the area where it happened.)
According to Raffy Tima’s report on “24 Oras,” the gunman in the shooting incident has been identified with the help of CCTV footage.
A police investigator said the victim already thought of skipping work on the day of the incident but decided to go to the office because of the get-together planned for him before he retired. –Vince Angelo Ferreras/NB, GMA Integrated News
