The suspect in the fatal shooting of an employee of Manila Electric Company (Meralco) in a road rage incident in Dasmariñas, Cavite surrendered to authorities on Monday, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.
In a press conference, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the suspect “was identified as a resident of his barangay and the barangay captain to his credit immediately went cooperating with the police for the manhunt and the eventual surrender of the suspect.”
The Cavite Police Provincial Police presented the 44 year-old suspect during the press conference.
On August 27, the victim was on his way to his retirement party at the office when he was shot by the suspect in what appeared to be a traffic altercation.
CCTV footage showed that a white company pick-up vehicle and a red sedan both stopped side-by-side along a portion of Abad Santos Avenue in Barangay Salitran 3.
The driver of the red sedan pulled down the front passenger side window and both vehicles slowly moved together. The red car suddenly drove away.
In another footage, the victim could be seen bloodied while inside the pick-up.
Responders tried to rush the victim to the hospital but he passed away.
Police said a murder complaint has been filed against the suspect. — RF, GMA Integrated News
